Why simple choices can make storytime more inviting
A young child often has more to say when the question is clear. Two thoughtful options lower the pressure while still letting the child influence what happens next.
Make the question concrete
Try choices that fit the story moment: should the rabbit follow the blue path or the yellow path? Concrete choices are easier to hear, remember, and answer.
Give a child time
A pause matters. Let a child think, repeat the options if needed, and celebrate participation without correcting an answer that fits one of the choices.
Keep the story moving
A well-written choice leads to an authored next scene. That keeps the experience playful and finite rather than placing the burden of inventing a whole story on the child.
